Services List
The Macon County Child Advocacy Center provides coordinated services in
a child/family friendly environment, where any victim of abuse
under the age of eighteen in Macon or Piatt Counties can relay their experiences
in a safe, age-appropriate, informal setting. The Investigative
Protocol utilizes multi-disciplinary team approach with law enforcement,
DCFS, state’s
attorney, medical providers, and social service providers.
A specially trained interviewer/investigator meets with the child and,
if necessary, other team members observe through closed circuit equipment
while the interview is video/audio recorded. This protocol reduces the
trauma for the child and the number of interviews required to protect the
child and hold the accused accountable.
The Center also provides these services to children and their families:
- Crisis Intervention Services
- Assistance and support in coping with abuse
- Case management services including assistance with obtaining medical care, counseling, and other necessary social services along with monthly team case review meeting
- Legal Advocacy and Information including victim compensation, and help in obtaining orders of protection
- Education and prevention presentations and resources
