History and Mission

Safe From the Start is a coalition in Macon and Piatt Counties working to help children ages 0-5 and their families who have been exposed to violence. We can help you in the following ways:

  • Free assessments to identify the effects of violence on your child
  • Information and referral to services available in Macon and Piatt Counties
  • Therapeutic services for children who have been seriously affected by violence.
  • Chance to learn about healthy parenting skills and effects of violence on children
  • Case management and therapy services for children and their families exposed to violence

This group is made up of local social service agencies, law enforcement, childcare providers, and hospitals, who are all working together to help children heal the wounds caused by exposure to violence.
