Decreasing childrens’ trauma is our goal

The Macon County Child Advocacy Center uses a team approach to try to decrease the trauma that children face when they have been victims of sexual or serious physical abuse.

In a team approach, the children face fewer interviews. They are interviewed in a special room with kid-sized chairs, toys, and an easel. They are free to talk or draw pictures about what they have experienced.

Children talk to a specially trained interviewer. If other investigators need information, they may observe the interview through state-of-the-art closed-circuit equipment.
