Abuse is a community problem

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) fiscal year 2008 statistics show that there were 1,430 children reported as abused or neglected in Macon County and 148 reported as abused or neglected in Piatt County.  There were 116 children reported to have been sexually abused in Macon County and 20 children reported to have been sexually abused in Piatt County.  These statistics only reflect cases involving a family member, person of authority or caretaker as the perpetrator of the abuse.

1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused in some way prior to their 18th birthday.

Most children who are abused never report.  Be the voice for a child in need and make a report when you suspect abuse.

Call local law enforcement or DCFS 1-800-252-2873.
